Stampeders Re-Sign Dozier

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed American defensive back Branden Dozier.

The Topeka, Kan., product has played 72 regular-season games over five Canadian Football League seasons including the two most recent campaigns as a member of the Red and White. Dozier has 289 career defensive tackles including four tackles for loss, 64 special-teams tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and eight interceptions.

Dozier has excelled both on defence and special teams for the Stamps, making starts at both safety and the SAM position and registering 69 defensive tackles, 24 special-teams tackles, one sack, two interceptions and four knockdowns in 21 regular-season games. He has also played two post-season contests for Calgary and made a total of 10 tackles.

"Branden is one of our leaders on the back end," said Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson. "He'll do whatever it takes to make us better."

"I'm excited to be back in red and I'm ready to get to work," said Dozier.

Dozier started his CFL career with two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes - earning East Division all-star honours in 2018 - and also spent a year with the BC Lions. Before coming to Canada, he played at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and attended mini-camp with the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers.
