Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Travel to Waterloo for Games 1 & 2 this Weekend

The Stampede open their Western Conference Semifinal series against the Waterloo Black Hawks this Friday night for Game 1 at Young Arena. Game 2 will be played Saturday night at Young Arena. Game times for both games are 7:05 PM each night.

Fans can catch all the playoff action on your home for Stampede hockey, KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 107.9-FM and online at kelo.com . Fans can also listen live on their mobile device by downloading the free KELO app for your Android or iPhone device.

The Stampede finished the regular season with a 34-19-7 record while the Black Hawks captured the Anderson Cup with a 44-11-5 mark.

After Saturday, the series will shift to Sioux Falls for Game 3 on Thursday, April 17th and, if necessary, Game 4 on Friday, April 18th.

Five former Stampede players skating in Frozen Four today

The Stampede will have five former players skating in the Frozen Four today in Philadelphia. Sam Coatta and Union College square off against Boston College today at 4 PM while Christian Isackson, Kyle Rau, Connor Reilly, Ryan Reilly and the University of Minnesota face the University of North Dakota at 7:30 PM. Both games can be heard live on KWSN AM-1230 and FM-98.1. Fans can also watch the games live on ESPN2.

Coatta has appeared in 38 games this season for Union, posting 11 points (3g, 8a). Union has 30-6-4 record and have been ranked in the top five all season.

Rau is a captain for the Gophers and leads the team in scoring with 37 points (14g, 23a) in 39 games. Connor Reilly has appeared in 35 games this season, tallying 12 points while brother Ryan has skated in five games this season. Isackson has four points (1g, 3a) in 19 games. The Gophers are the #1 overall seed in the tournament with a 27-6-6 record.

Stampede finish regular season with top attendance in the USHL

The Sioux Falls Stampede are thrilled to announce they have finished the 2013-14 regular season with the top attendance in the USHL. It marks the first time in franchise history the club finished the year with the best attendance in the league.

A total of 127,709 fans cheered on the Herd for an average of 4,257 per-game, the highest average in the USHL since the 2008-09 season. The club averaged 614 more fans per-game than the next closest team and raised their average attendance by 9% from a season ago. Sioux Falls had a team record 9 sellouts during the year and 21 games with crowds of over 4,000 at the Sioux Falls Arena.

Tickets for Game 3 of the Stampede's Western Conference Semifinal series against the Waterloo Black Hawks are on sale now at the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster location. Help cheer on the Herd as they look to take down the Anderson Cup champion Hawks at the Sioux Falls Arena. This is the final playoff run in the Arena so be loud and proud!

Game 4 tickets will go on sale when that game becomes necessary in the series.

Stampede and Canaries take home Gold ADDY awards

The Stampede and Canaries are proud to announce they both have taken home Gold and "Best of Class" awards during the 2014 South Dakota ADDY Awards

The Stampede took home Gold and "Best of Class" Awards in the radio category for their Holiday Party ad, written by Leesa-Bendt Olander and produced by Mark Nelson and Midwest Communications. The ad promotes group and company outings at Stampede games. Click here to listen to the ad.

The Canaries captured a Gold and Best of Class award in the Integrated Campaigns category for their "Welcome Home" campaign for the 2013 season. The campaign was created by Fresh Produce and was centered around the return of the Canaries name to Sioux Falls after being known as the Pheasants from 2010 to 2012.
