Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Look Continue Strong Play this Saturday in Waterloo

After a stretch of six games in 11 days, the Herd (18-11-4) will get a little break this week with just one game on the schedule.

The Stampede will travel to Waterloo to face the Black Hawks this Saturday at 7:05 PM. The Herd defeated Waterloo 5-3 in their only meeting of the season thus far back on January 8th.

The Stampede had their seven-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan in a 3-2 loss to the U.S. Under-17 squad. Sioux Falls has earned at least a point in 11 of their last 14 games and remain in third place in the very tight Western Conference standings.

Some things you might not have known about the Stampede during their seven-game winning streak that ended on Saturday:

. The Stampede outscored their opponents 23 to 10 during that stretch.

. The Herd killed off 28 consecutive penalties.

. The Stampede won three straight games on the road. They will play their next six games away from home.

. Sioux Falls scored the first goal of the game in five of the seven games.

. Stephon Williams went 6-0-0 with a 1.32 GAA and a .953 save percentage.

. 15 different players scored goals during the streak.

. The Stampede moved from 7th place to 3rd place in the standings

Hockey Headquarters Youth

Hockey Player of the Week

The Stampede have announced that they are teaming up with Hockey Headquarters in Sioux Falls for the Youth Hockey Player of the Week.

Coaches are encouraged to download the nomination form on the front page of the Stampede website. Click here for more information.

Each week one player, regardless of age or gender, will be randomly selected as the Hockey Headquarters Youth Hockey Player of the Week. That player will receive a $25 gift card to Hockey Headquarters and four tickets to a Stampede game of their choice.

Avera McKennan "Teddy Bear Toss" Feb. 13

Sunday, February 13th is the Avera McKennan "Teddy Bear Toss" night. Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to the game and toss them onto the ice after the Herd's first goal against Tri-City.

All bears that are collected will be brought to the pediatric unit of Avera McKennan Hospital and delivered by Stampede players who will be visiting the hospital later that week.

It is also "Sweetheart Night" at the arena. There will be several Valentine's Day themed events taking place throughout the game and fans will have a chance to win special prizes throughout the night. Stay tuned for more details!

4th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Race" set for February 19th

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 19th when the Stampede host Sioux City at 7:05 PM for the 4th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Race."
