Stampede Close out Homestand this Weekend

The Stampede close out their six-game homestand this weekend when they play host to Lincoln and Cedar Rapids, Friday and Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. The Stampede took three of a possible four points over the weekend and are now 5-6-2 on the season and in fourth place in the West Division. The Herd will play at Fargo on Sunday at 4 PM.

On Friday, the Stampede will play host to the Lincoln Stars. The Stars are currently in first place in the West Division with a 9-5-1 record and are 3-2-0 in their last five games. The Stars downed the Stampede 5-4 on October 10th in Lincoln.

On Saturday, the Stampede will face the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Cedar Rapids is off to a great start to the season with a 10-3-0 record and in second place in the East Division. The Stampede are 0-1-0 against the RoughRiders this season. Forward Mike Seidel is second in the league in scoring with 19 points (7g, 12a) in 13 games this season.

ANDREAS NODL TO APPEAR ON

INSIDE STAMPEDE HOCKEY TONIGHT

Former Stampede star Andreas Nodl will appear on Inside Stampede Hockey today from 5-6 PM on ESPN Radio 1230-AM KWSN. Nodl is currently playing in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers. He became the 7th former Stampede player to skate in the NHL on October 22nd when the Flyers hosted San Jose.

Nodl played with the Stampede from 2004 to 2006. He led the team in scoring with 59 points (29g, 30a) during the 2005-06 regular season while leading the Stampede to their first ever Anderson Cup Title. Click here to listen "live" online.

KANGAS RECORDS FIRST

CAREER SHUTOUT

Former Stampede goaltender Alex Kangas recorded his first career shutout yesterday for the University of Minnesota in their 3-0 win over Michigan Tech. He stopped 38 shots on the night to earn his sixth victory of the season. Jay Barriball had two assists in the win for the Gophers.

Kangas is now 6-0-4 with a 1.84 GAA and a .936 save percentage on the season for the top ranked Gophers. Minnesota tied with Michigan Tech 2-2 on Friday. The Gophers are off to their best start since the 2001-02 season when they started the year 11-0-2 and eventually won the national championship.

SEXTON AND SOLWAY LEADING

BOWLING GREEN

Former Stampede forwards Dan Sexton and David Solway are the leading scorers for Bowling Green State University. On Friday, Solway recorded both goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Northern Michigan. Sexton assisted on both of the goals. On Saturday, Solway set up Sexton for the eventual game winning goal late in regulation to lead the Falcons past Northern Michigan 2-1.

Solway finished the weekend with three points and has been named CCHA Offensive Player-of-the-Week for his efforts.

Sexton leads the team in scoring with 15 points (5g, 10a) while Solway is second with 13 points (7g, 6a). Sexton's 15 points ranks him 11th in the nation in scoring. Both players were members of the Stampede's Clark Championship team during the 2006-07 season.
