
Stampede Announce New "Teammates In The Community" Program

Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today the unveiling of a new "Teammates in the Community" outreach program.
The "Teammates in the Community" program provide students with funding of up to $1,000 to help assist and complete a local community service project. To apply for donation support, students were required to submit their project idea in writing. All applications were reviewed by the Stampede organization.
"The purpose of the program is to stimulate and encourage students of all ages to become more involved in their local communities and to help develop leadership skills," said Jim Loria, Stampede team President.
There were five recipients chosen for the first-ever "Teammates in the Community" award that will now become an annual program supported by the Stampede Hockey Club. Each were honored and presented with their project funds at last Friday's Stampede playoff game against Lincoln:
Brian Voss: A 16-year-old Sioux Falls student, is building two shelters for the Lake Pahoja Recreation Area near Rock Rapids, IA. Brian's grant request was for $500.
Mark Retzlaff: A 16-year-old student at Huron High School, is building a recreational place in his hometown of Huron, SD. Mark's grant request was for $1,000.
Ryan Peter: A junior high school student at Elk Point-Jefferson in South Dakota, is building a welcome sign on I-29 Highway to commemorate his city's 150th Birthday celebration! Ryan's grant request was for $1,000.
Leighann Dunn & Sara Dvorak: Senior students at the University of South Dakota. They are working together to host a community supper for up to 500 war veteran's families and friends during veterans week in Vermillion. Leighann and Sara's grant request was for $1,000.
Andrew Manolis: A 16-year-old high school student in Huron, SD, is building two new flagpoles and statues at the National Guard Armory in Huron to honor the soldiers of War and Veterans everywhere. Andrew's grant request was for $1,000.
