Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Tuesday that they have acquired defenseman Jaden Shields from the Omaha Lancers in exchange for a 2019 9th round Phase I draft choice and a 2020 10th round Phase II draft choice.

Shields has skated in 29 USHL games this season, posting a goal and an assist while tallying 32 shots on goal. Originally drafted by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the fifth round of the USHL Phase II Draft in May, Shields skated in 22 games with the Lancers.

"We really like our team, but are always looking for players who can help us improve," stated Stampede head coach Scott Owens. "Jaden is an experienced USHL defenseman who we feel can help strengthen our defensive core."

The 5-foot-9, 189-pound, right-handed shot spent last season with the Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he tallied 29 points (12g, 17a) and a plus-14 rating in 57 games played. The Royal Oak, MI native also skated in two games with the Sioux City Musketeers during the 2016-17 season.

Shields will join the team immediately and be available for when the Herd return to action this Friday night at home versus Chicago. Puck drop is 7:05 PM and tickets are available through the KELOLAND Box
