Saugerties Stallions News Release
LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions found mixed results during its road trip against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Tuesday.
Following a rough loss in Oneonta the day prior, the Stallions were able to open up on the right foot during the opening game.
No runs were scored until the fourth inning when the Stallions finally broke through with a Brandon Fish double to score Mason Speaker.
Speaker would return the favor in the very next inning with a double of his own to score two more runs.
The Stallions would score four runs combined during the two innings and from there the pitching staff took care of the rest.
Starter Alex Canney pitched five shutout innings with three strikeouts and James Reilly threw the remaining two innings with three strikeouts of his own to lock down the 4-0 victory.
There would be way more offensive fireworks in the second game of the doubleheader and it would start almost immediately.
After Kip Fougerousse hit a double to score the game's first run in the opening inning, the DiamondDawgs responded with three runs in the bottom half.
The Stallions took the lead right back the next inning with the second David Shackleford home run of the year and a Garrison Berkley double before the DiamondDawgs scored four runs in the bottom half.
The Stallions scored another three runs in the third inning with back-to-back doubles from Marist athletes Colin Mackle and Nico Amory.
Those runs would be all for the Stallions during the game as the DiamondDawgs quickly pounced on Stallions pitchers Jake Kolkhorst and TJ Lopez on their way to a 12-7 victory.
Following the split, the Stallions now hold a 10-11 record on the year and return home on Wednesday to take on the Glens Falls Dragons.
