Stallions jump to CIFL

Springfield Stallions News Release


The Springfield Stallions have announced that they will play their inagural season in the Continental Indoor Football League.

Justin Gettys of Fort Wayne, IN and Kris Underwood of Huntington, IN have completed the purchase of the Springfield Stallions from Herb Fullerton. After making the purchase, they decided to compete in the Continental Indoor Football League.

When asked about indoor football and the CIFL Justin replied, "Kris and I are looking forward to playing our inaugural season in the Continental Indoor Football League. We believe that the CIFL will allow the Stallions organization long term success and help us to become a long term fixture in the Springfield community."

Underwood added, "Justin and I are very excited to be a part of the CIFL. We are looking forward to having a great inagural season and providing the Springfield community with exciting football and entertainment for the entire family."

Former Stallions owner Herb Fullerton will remain with the team. He will serve as General Manager and Head Coach of the Stallions. Coach Fullerton has a very successful coaching record. He led the Stallions to the 8FL Championship game last season and was also named Coach of the Year in 2006. Fullerton is married to Jessica and they have three children.

Gettys of Fort Wayne, Indiana brings a wealth of marketing experience with him to Springfield. He spent over 14 years in the world of radio. At one time, Gettys had a nationally syndicated morning radio show. Justin is also a professional wrestler who can be seen weekly on the WWA Wrestling Show, on FOX in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Justin is married to Kelli and they have one daughter, Isabella. Gettys will serve as the President of the Stallions.

Kris has over fifteen years of broadcasting experience. He has spent the past few years in broadcast management. Kris is also an experienced basketball coach. Last season he was a member of the coaching staff that led the University of Saint Francis Lady Cougars to the NAIA Women's Basketball Final Four. Underwood is married to Sheila and they have two daughters, Alexandra and Savannah. Kris will serve as the Vice President of the Stallions.

The Stallions also announced that the grand opening of the Stallions Pro Shop will be Friday October 27th. The new store will be located in the White Oaks Mall across from Ruby Tuesdays. The Stallions Pro Shop will sell merchandise, tickets and will also house the teams front office.
