SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - On Saturday, the Saugerties Stallions defeated the Glens Falls Dragons 12-5 at Cantine Field in Saugerties, N.Y.

Saugerties came out hot in the first inning, James Gargano (Butler) lead off with a single and advanced to third on a double from Jordan Kozicky (Minnesota). Both runners would be driven in on a triple from Brian Picone (Iona) to give the Stallions an early 2-0 lead.

Saugerties bats stayed hot in the second inning as Easton Bertrand (Minnesota) crushed a solo home run to left. Kozicky doubled to score two more runs and would eventually come around to score on a sacrifice fly from Picone extending the Stallions lead to 6-0.

Glens Falls got on the board in the third inning when Zach Fritz (LIU Post) singled and would eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.

Saugerties would answer by plating four runs of their own. Danny Martin (Stetson) would score on a single by Bertrand. Herman Alvarado (Nyack) would follow to plate another run. Gargano and Kozicky would add back-to-back RBI-singles to make it 10-1.

Danny Ryan (Fairfield) and Matt Hamel (Siena) led off the inning with a pair of singles for Glens Falls. Ryan would score on a wild pitch and Fritz drove in Hamel with an RBI-single to cut the Saugerties lead to 10-3. They added another run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch.

The scoring resumed in the seventh inning when Glens Falls added a run on an RBI-double from Hamel. Saugerties scored a pair of runs in the eighth after Kozicky and Cameron Comer (Virginia) hit back-to-back doubles bringing the lead to 12-5. The Stallions would hold on in the ninth.

Noah Stone (Arkansas State) earned the win for the Stallions, Regan Dombroski (Monmouth) took the loss and Joel Bartoni (Arcadia) was awarded the save, throwing four innings of relief.

Glens Falls plays next on July 29 at the Albany Dutchmen, while Saugerties plays next at the Albany Dutchmen on July 28.
