St. Louis Aces News Release
[FENTON, MO and ST. LOUIS, MO] When the July 7, 2011 tennis match between the St. Louis Aces and Newport Beach Breakers reaches halftime, Shoeman George Hutchings and his team of volunteers will be "Love All" when they spread pairs of shoes across the Dwight Davis Tennis Center court in Forest Park, 5620 Grand Drive, St. Louis, MO, demonstrating Aces fans' generosity and interest in ending thirst for people who live without clean water. Fans should bring pairs of new and used shoes, tied together, and deposit them that evening at the Shoeman Water Projects booth near the North Grandstands. Shoes should have no rips or holes. Shoeman Water Projects, a not-for-profit program headquartered in Fenton, MO, will be featured at the 7:15 p.m. match. Gates open at 5:30. Tickets are $35 and $15 for children.
Shoeman Water Projects exports donated shoes to places where shoes are often not affordable but greatly needed. Wearing shoes prevents cuts and parasites from entering the body. The shoes are sold for pennies on the dollar to the people needing them. Moreover, the proceeds from the shoes are used to drill for clean water and install water purification systems and training for the people who operate them, helping improve the physical and economic health of the countries.
"There are so many places we've identified in Kenya, Haiti and other places that need our help," said Hutchings, the founder of Shoeman Water Projects.
George The Shoeman Hutchings fills his cowboy hat with water to the delight of a young boy in Kenya, whose village is enjoying clean water from a new well, made possible from the donations of shoes.
Shoeman Water Projects, in operation since August 2008, has collected over 1.5 million pairs of shoes. The shoe drive associated with the World Team Tennis' St. Louis Aces will continue to make a difference for others. The St. Louis Aces is comprised of professional tennis stars Lindsay Davenport, Mark Philippoussis, Liezel Huber, Jean-Julien Rojer, and is coached by Rick Leach. Co-founded by tennis pro Billie Jean King, World Team Tennis features co-ed team play within an enthused, pumped-up party atmosphere. Shoeman Water Projects makes it easy for anyone to participate in its efforts to make a positive difference in the world. Businesses, organizations, schools, faith communities and individuals who wish to organize a shoe drive can find more information and organizing resources on Shoeman Water Project's website, http://www.shoeman.org/, or call 636-751-8197.
