St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release
ROBSTOWN, TX - It was an identical script for the second straight night, with St. Joe (10-11, 36-33) rallying to knock off Coastal Bend (13-9, 36-33), 5-3. The Blacksnakes jumped out early, Coastal Bend rallied in the middle innings and St. Joe took the win late.
St. Joe's Andrew Edwards and Coastal Bend's Tim McGough engaged in a pitcher's duel, and the 'Snakes struck first in the fourth. Wil Quintana singled in a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead.
Coastal Bend scored the next three, taking the 3-2 lead on Jack Joffrion's inside-the-park two-run home run against J.C. Huguet in the sixth. That was the only hit allowed by the 'Snakes bullpen in the game.
For the second straight night the eighth inning was gold for St. Joe. Ben Thomas leadoff with bunt single an Cory Harris doubled. Mark Burke's groundout tied the game at three and Misha Dworken came through with a clutch two-out single to take the lead, 4-3.
St. Joe added an insurance in the ninth on Harris' two-out RBI single to make it 5-3.
