Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Ann Arbor, Michigan. With over 100 college and professional scouts in attendance, Springfield Jr. Blues All-Stars Austin Coldwell, Trent Frey, Nick Curry and Brandon Bahnemann got an opportunity to show off their talents as they led the South Division to a 2-1 record.
In the last of the three- game North American Hockey League event, Nick Curry was named Player Of The Game as he led the tournament with four points. Frey and Bahnemann each had two points -a goal and an assist- in the tournament.
" I was extremely proud of our guys and the way that they played", stated team president Bob Gordon, who attended the event along with assistant coach Andy Maher and Housing Director Mike Hickey. "We talked to many of the scouts in attendance and they loved our players. I wouldn't be surprised if all four of them got college offers as a result of this event in the near future. Austin Coldwell was one of the youngest-but best-defenseman on the ice. Trent Frey showed everyone why he leads the league in goal scoring. Nick Curry has tremendous stick-handling skills which didn't go un-noticed. Brandon Bahnemann is a sniper who is very dangerous around the net. These kids are a class act, both on and off the ice", he added.
After a tough weekend series with St. Louis, the four drove 8 hours to Ann Arbor and played three more games in the next three days. "That's a tough thing to do-play five games in five days", added assistant coach Andy Maher.
The four got a well-deserved day off from practice Wednesday but will be back on the ice today as the team gets ready for a re-match with the St. Louis Bandits this weekend. Game time is 7:30 Pm both Friday and Sat! urday night.
