The Shreveport Sports snapped a three-game losing streak as they defeated the Jackson Senators 6-5 in 11 innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Fair Grounds Field. Jackson got a split in the twin bill with a 4-1 win in the second game.

Jorge Alvarez singled with two outs in the 11th inning to score Michael Hicks from second base with the winning run in game one. It was the third hit of the game for the Shreveport leftfielder and the game winner came off losing pitcher Mark Ihlenberg. David Kuiper, in relief, picked up the win for Shreveport.

In the second game, Jackson got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two out bases empty home run by Steve Newson. That came off losing pitcher Rusty Camp, making his first start for the Sports.

Jackson starter Ryan Creek had a no-hitter with two outs in the sixth inning when Keto Anderson broke up the no-hitter when an infield hit.

Shreveport and Jackson will continue the series with a single game Friday night at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05.
