Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
Shreveport Sports righthander Colby Miller blanked El Paso on five hits in an 8-0 win in the home finale for the Sports. Miller struck out five and walked only one while giving up five singles.
Only one El Paso base runner reached third in the third shutout of the season for Miller, the most in the American Association. The Sports scored two runs in the third and fourth innings and then put the game away in the fifth sending nine batters to the plate, scoring four runs. Jack Joffrion and Chad Gambill hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the fifth.
With the win, the Sports swept the three-game series against El Paso. Shreveport will now close out the season with three road games at Pensacola, starting Thursday at 6:35. The game will be broadcast on the internet only.
