Sioux Falls 3, Sioux City 0

Sioux Falls starting pitcher Ryan Ford was lights out in this one as he held the Sioux City Explorers to three hits in a complete game shutout. Just a night ago, Sioux City pounded out 18 hits in a 16-3 throttling of the Canaries. Ford walked just one and struck out six in the game, improving his mark to 7-5 on the year. Sioux Falls SS Orlando Miller led all hitters, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Canaries 3B Matt Imwalle continued his great season, going 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Despite the win by Sioux Falls, they were eliminated from the playoff race thanks to a win by St. Paul.

Fort Worth 11, Coastal Bend 2

The Fort Worth Cats held a 7-1 lead a third of the way through the game and went on to an easy win over Coastal Bend, securing the second half title in the South Division. The win improved the Cats to a league-best 30-15 in the second half and 51-39 overall. Fort Worth starting pitcher Ryan Trytten was great on the mound, allowing one run on four hits and striking out three in eight innings of work. The victory evens Trytten's record to 3-3 on the year. Fort Worth 3B Terence Green was 4-for-5 with four RBI to lead the way at the plate. Cats C Kelley Gulledge also had a good game. He was 1-for-3 with a home run.

St. Paul 4, Lincoln 3

@ St. Paul, MN. Time: 2:51 Attendance: 7,765

HR: SP-Derrick White (3), Marcel Longmire (16)

The St. Paul Saints nipped the Lincoln Saltdogs at home thanks to a seventh inning rally that plated two runs and erased a one run deficit. Saints RF Derrick White led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. St. Paul DH Marcel Longmire also homered and was 1-for-4. Saints starter Brian Whinnery pitched well, but did not factor in the decision. Instead it was Saints reliever Byron Embry who notched the win to improve to 3-1 on the year. St. Paul closer Tony Pierce came on and held the Satldogs scoreless in the ninth despite allowing two hits to pick up his 11th save of the season.

Shreveport 8, El Paso 0

@ Shreveport, LA. Time: 2:37 Attendance: 1,217

The Shreveport Sports eliminated any hope that El Paso had of staying in the second half South Division race by blanking the Diablos at home. As it turned out, the loss didn't matter, as Fort Worth took matters into its own hands with an 11-2 win. Still, Shreveport starter Colby Miller didn't take any chances, as he struck out five en route to a five-hit shutout. The win improved his mark to 6-9 on the year. The Sports pounded out 11 hits on offense, led by 3B Bryan Cooksey who was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Shreveport 2B Jack Joffrion and DH Chad Gambill each homered in the win.

Pensacola 4, St. Joe 3 (10 innings)

@ Pensacola, FL. Time: 3:10 Attendance: 1,120

The Pensacola Pelicans got a run in the bottom half of the 10th inning to squeak by St. Joe and improve to 19-26 in the second half. The Pelicans were victorious despite a great outing by St. Joe starting pitcher Alex Gett who allowed two runs on six hits while striking out 10 in seven innings of work. Gett did not factor in the decision. Pensacola DH Napoleon Calzado led the way at the plate. He was 2-for-5 with a home run. Pensacola reliever Carl Scheafer was credited with the win after holding the Blacksnakes scoreless in the top of the 10th. With the victory, his record is now 8-4.
