
Sporting KC Holds Two Picks in Friday's MLS SuperDraft

Club has two first-round selections at No. 13 and No. 18 overall

(Jan. 18, 2018) - Sporting Kansas City holds two first-round picks at No. 13 and No. 18 in Friday's 2018 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. The first two rounds of the draft will stream live from Philadelphia on MLSsoccer.com beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
Currently without a selection in the second and third rounds, Sporting Kansas City holds the No. 75 and No. 82 overall picks in the fourth and final round. The third and fourth rounds of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft will be conducted via conference call this Sunday, Jan. 21. The MLSsoccer.com Draft Tracker will provide instant updates as each draft pick is announced.
Advisory: Sporting KC will host the club's first media availability of 2018 this Saturday, Jan. 20, at Children's Mercy Park. Manager Peter Vermes will join Sporting KC players to speak with media at 11 a.m. CT. Parking will be available on the Sporting Plaza on the west side of Children's Mercy Park. Interviews will take place in the UMB Field Club and lunch will be provided afterward.
Veteran players on Sporting Kansas City's current roster who were acquired via the MLS SuperDraft include captain and center back Matt Besler (2009), right back Graham Zusi (2009) and midfielder Roger Espinoza (2008).
Sporting Kansas City will kick off the team's 23rd season on Sunday, March 4, when the club hosts New York City FC at Children's Mercy Park. Click here for the team's full 2018 MLS schedule. Single-game tickets for the first 10 home games at Children's Mercy Park will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Before then, Manager Peter Vermes' men will travel to Arizona for the club's 2018 preseason, presented by Children's Mercy. Sporting KC will first report to Scottsdale from Jan. 22 - Feb. 3 before visiting Tucson for the Mobile Mini Sun Cup from Feb. 9-25.
