SPORTING KANSAS CITY TO HOST PORTLAND TIMBERS ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17TH

Following a week off from MLS play, Sporting Kansas City will continue their nine-game homestretch against the Western Conference expansion side Portland Timbers Wednesday, August 17th at 7:30 p.m. CT at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Wednesday's match will be broadcast live on KSMO, with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT.

The match against Portland is presented by the Kansas Lottery, and the first 10,000 fans to arrive at LIVE STRONG Sporting Park on matchday will receive a free Omar Bravo bobblehead doll courtesy of Sprint. Tickets for the match are still available and can be purchased here.

Portland (7-10-5) sits in seventh place in the MLS Western Conference, most recently drawing 1-1 with the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday.

KICKOFF AGAINST D.C. UNITED MOVED BACK TO 7:30 ON AUGUST 21ST

Sporting Kansas City's match against D.C. United on Sunday, August 21st will now kick-off at 7:30 p.m. CT at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, the clubs announced Wednesday.

Tickets for the match, presented by Price Chopper, are available at the at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park box offices or online at Ticketmaster.com.

2012 SEASON TICKET RENEWAL CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY

Sporting Kansas City season ticket members can now begin reserving their same seats for the 2012 season at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO SEATTLE

Sporting Kansas City's club record unbeaten run was stopped at 14 matches Saturday night, as Seattle Sounders FC topped Sporting Kansas City by a 2-1 scoreline at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Sporting Kansas City's unbeaten run ends tied for third longest all-time in MLS history.

Forward Kei Kamara opened the scoring in the first half, but a red card to Designated Player Omar Bravo in the 59th minute left Sporting Kansas City short a man for the final half hour, as Seattle were able to equalize through Mauro Rosales in the 90th minute before substitute forward Lamar Neagle got the winner in the 92nd minute.

DEFENDER DANEIL CYRUS TO MISS REMAINDER OF 2011 SEASON

Sporting Kansas City central defender Daneil Cyrus will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after suffering a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot during the team's Reserve League match on Monday. The injury, also commonly referred to as a Jones fracture, will require surgery and Cyrus is expected to be out for four months.

Cyrus, a Trinidad and Tobago international, was signed by Sporting Kansas City in July and made five appearances in all competition, including two MLS matches and theclub's international friendly against Newcastle United FC.

LIVESTRONG SPORTING PARK TO HOST U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will return to the field for the first time since the conclusion of the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup when it faces Canada at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on September 17th. The two-game series featuring the U.S. Women's World Cup squad will begin at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. CT live on FOX Soccer and continues on Thursday, Sept. 22, at JELD-WEN Field.

The appearance at the brand new, state-of-the art LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas will be the first in that state for the U.S., although the team has played in Arrowhead Stadium on the Missouri side of the state line fourtimes compiling a 2-0-2 record. Two of those meetings came in post-Women's World Cup tours in 1999 and 2003, and the most recent was a 1-0 win againstMexico in the Fan Celebration Tour following the 2004 Olympics.

SPECIAL TICKET OFFER FOR BUZZ BEACH BALL

Sporting Kansas City fans can take advantage of a special offer to see Buzz Beach Ball at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on August 19th. Those who purchase a ticket to the concert -- including headliners Jane's Addiction, Incubus, Bush, Neon Trees and more -- will receive a complimentary ticket to one of two upcoming Sporting Kansas City home matches at LSP.

Complimentary tickets in the south GA stand - a $28 value - will be available for Sporting Kansas City's matches on Wednesday, August 17 against the Portland Timbers and Wednesday, September 28 against the Columbus Crew. The offer islimited to 1,000 tickets per match.

THOMAS, ESPINOZA REPRESENT RESPECTIVE NATIONAL TEAMS

Sporting Kansas City defender Shavar Thomas and midfielder Roger Espinoza were each selected to participate in international friendly matches with their respective national teams this week.

Thomas started and played 90 minutes in Jamaica's 1-0 loss to China on Wednesday at Hefei Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Hefei, China. Espinoza is included in the Honduras squad set to face Venezuela Wednesday at home at 7:15 p.m. CT.

Both Thomas and Espinoza represented their national teams in this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. Jamaica reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated by the United States, while Honduras advanced to the semifinal of the regionaltournament before losing to Mexico in overtime.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY IN THE COMMUNITY

Sporting Kansas City's Luke Sassano, Teal Bunbury, Chance Myers, Graham Zusi and Matt Besler all participated in a mini soccer clinic Tuesday hosted by the American Cancer Society for children in the Kansas City area affected by cancer. Following the clinic the players signed autographs for the kids in attendance.

On Thursday, forward Soony Saad will lend a hand to the Catalyst Soccer/Nutrition Clinic at the Freedom Fields located at 83rd and Monticello in Lenexa, Kansas. The clinic is the most recent Sporting 22 program to be executed in the Kansas City area, and over 100 children are signed up to come learn the importance of nutrition in sport. Thursday's clinic will begin at 9:45 a.m. CT.

Also on Thursday, another Sporting 22 program will be carried out at the Spring Hill Sports Complex in Spring Hill, Kansas as Matt Besler and Jon Kempin interact with the kids at the Premier Soccer - Fundamentals of Fun clinic. The clinic will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY GAME RESCHEDULED FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Sporting Kansas City's home match with the LA Galaxy, previously scheduled for August 13, has been moved to Monday, September 5. Kickoff for the re-scheduled match at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is set for 5 p.m. CT.

The match against the Galaxy, featuring Landon Donovan, David Beckham and Juan Pablo Angel, will still be broadcastnationally on FOX Soccer, one of eight MLS matches at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park to be nationally broadcast in 2011. All tickets previously issued for the Sporting Kansas City - LA Galaxy match will be honored on September 5. Tickets are still available for purchase at the stadium box office or online.
