SPOKANE, Washington - The Spokane IFL franchise has signed linebacker Nick Haag to their 2016 roster.
Haag (LB, 6-3, 250, Assumption) joins Spokane for his third season as a member of the IFL after playing his first two seasons with the Cedar Rapids Titans. Haag recently spent time with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts during the team's 2015 preseason.
Last season with Cedar Rapids, Haag played in 13 games and the led the Titans with 68.5 total tackles (43 solo). He also added 9.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, and two pass breaks. During his first IFL season in 2014 with the Titans, he saw action in nine games and recorded 34.5 total tackles (24 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
"Nick is a premier linebacker in the IFL and was a top restricted free agent this offseason," said Spokane Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "Spokane fans are going to love his style of play. He's a hardworking, aggressive hitter who is always around the ball carrier."
Haag played his final three collegiate seasons at Assumption University (MA) where he started in 31 games for the Greyhounds and recorded 117 total tackles (51 solo), 27 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. Haag received Northeast-10 All-Conference and Worcester Area Football honors in each of his final two seasons. As a senior, he was named to the BSN and USA Football News Division II All-American teams and was also named the D2Football.com Northeast-10 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Prior to transferring to Assumption, Haag began his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts where he played in eleven games as a linebacker and special teams players. He finished the year with 22 total tackles (12 solo). He played his prep career at Holy Name High School in Worcester, MA.
