Spokane Shock Name Drew Buchkoski Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

SPOKANE, WA (February 14, 2014) - The Spokane Shock have announced the hiring of Drew Buchkoski as their Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Buchkoski attended both Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University; he obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism with minors in physical education, education and technical writing from Eastern Washington in 1999 and 2000 before going on to earn a master's degree in sport and athletic administration from Gonzaga in 2001.

While attending Eastern Washington, Buchkoski assisted and served as a Strength Coach with the Eastern Eagles. He has also worked with the Seattle Seahawks in a Strength & Conditioning/Football Operations role while attending Gonzaga.

His experience in strength and performance coaching also includes stints as the Performance Coach at Arizona State University and Scottsdale Community College.

Since 2007 Buchkoski has served as the Performance Enhancement Programming Director for APX Strength here in the Northwest. While with APX he has worked with notable professional athletes such as Matt Kemp (MLB, Dodgers), Jeremy Affeldt (MLB, Giants), Adrian Wilson (NFL, Cardinals), and Calvin Pace (NFL, Jets), among others.

In addition to the hiring of Buchkoksi, the Shock have announced the addition of former Shock player Raul Vijil as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. Vijil has served for two years as a Performance Coach for APX Strength. Vijil played for the Shock from 2006-2011 as a wide receiver and defensive back.
