
Spitfires Fall 3-2 in Overtime, Series Tied 2-2

WINDSOR, ON. - The Spitfires held a narrow one goal lead late in the game and tried to lock it down defensively, but the Bulldogs offensive firepower came through when they needed it.
In the first period, the Bulldogs scored the games opening goal just 2:20 into in period. Both teams would have special team opportunities but no one could score. The bulldogs had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and a 9-8 shot advantage.
In the second period, the Spitfires came alive and brought the building to life. Maillet had the puck in the corner and went behind the net and sent a back pass to Currie who had a wide open net as the goalie followed Maillet to the far side. Currie shot it in for his 3rd of the postseason to tie the game at one just 5:29 into the period. Seven minutes later the Spitfires' Will Cuylle went in all alone and down the side boards before cutting to the net and scoring a squeaker to make it 2-1 Spitfires. The Spits had a 2-1 lead but trailed n shots 27 to 15.
In the third period, the Spitfires sat back and played the trap game but it did not work out. With 2 minutes to go and the net empty, Hamilton scored to tie it at 2. The Spitfires came close to scoring in the final minute but couldn't bury it. We were headed to overtime.
In the overtime period, off a Bulldog offensive draw. They got it back to the point and a seeing-eye shot travelled through a crowd in front of the net and into the goal for Hamilton to take a 3-2 win in OT.
The series now is even at 2 a-piece and an all-important Game 5 goes on Sunday in Hamilton. Puck drop is scheduled for 2pm.
