Alexander Khokhlachev scored the winner and Jaroslav Pavelka made 32 saves, as the Spitfires scratched out a 2-1 win over the Mississauga Steelheads on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.

Sam Studnicka had the other goal for Windsor (17-19-1-6), which moved within four points of the idle Saginaw Spirit for eighth in the Western Conference.

Sam Babintsev had the only goal for Mississauga (20-18-0-4), spoiling Pavelka's bid for a second shutout of the season with just 2:48 to play.

The victory gave the Spitfires seven of a possible eight points since the trade deadline.

Windsor is right back at it Friday night, as they visit London for a key match-up with the Knights.
