Windsor Spitfires News Release

The Spitfires and Owen Sound Attack had a slow stat to their first meeting of the season. Through the first 20 minutes of play there were no goals. Owen Sound lead the Spitfires 13-5 in shots after the period.

The 2nd period the goals started coming fast and furious. Just a minute and 51 seconds in, Wyatt Johnston ripped a shot from the slot and scored his third of the season. The lead didn't last long as 2 minutes later the Attack scored shorthanded to tie the game. 8 more minutes went by and the overager Henault creeped into the slot where he took a pass from Maggio and reflected the puck through the wickets of the netminder giving the Spitfires the 2-1 lead. Again the lead didn't last long as the Attack scored on the powerplay a minute and 40 seconds later. We were tied 2-2 heading into the third period.

Just 2 minutes into the period Henault sniped his 2nd goal of the game and 2nd of the season. 5 and a half minutes later Owen Sound tied it up again on the powerplay. But the Spitfires had enough, they scored 3 unanswered goals by DeAngelis (his first career goal), Cuylle, and Henault scored his hat-trick putting the game out of reach. Owen Sound did score to make it a 6-4 game before Cuylle sealed the deal with an empty-netter and the Spitfires took the first game of the series 7-4.

The Spitfires play Friday in Kitchener and then Saturday in Owen Sound before they return to the WFCU next Thursday to take on the Guelph Storm!
