Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor, ON) - General Manager Warren Rychel announced today the club has acquired 20-year-old goaltender Michael Giugovaz from the London Knights in exchange for a conditional 7th Round pick in 2017.
Giugovaz, a Brampton, Ontario native, has appeared in 111 games for the Peterborough Petes, Belleville Bulls and London Knights since breaking into the league back in 2011-2012.
"We needed some stability in goal," Rychel said. "Michael has four years experience in the league. We have to be very selective with Mikey DiPietro, who is a 16-year-old goalie. We also have a pair of injured goalies in (Brendan) Johnston and (Mario) Culina. And we had an overage spot open with the departure of Trevor Murphy."
Giugovaz is expected to join the team on Wednesday and will be in uniform when the Spitfires open the 2015-16 season hosting the Erie Otters on Thursday night.
