Spirit to pay tribute to Dick Radatz June 8

LYNN, Mass – The North Shore Spirit will pay tribute to Dick Radatz in a pre-game ceremony on June 8 at the New Fraser Field in Lynn. Radatz, a former Red Sox reliever who served as Spirit pitching coach the last two years, passed away March 16.

Special guests on June 8 will include Radatz's two daughters, son, and wife. The Spirit will also welcome former Red Sox Gerry Moses, Mike Andrews, Johnny Pesky, and Gary Bell to honor Radatz, their friend and teammate. Fox 25's Sports Anchor/Reporter Mark Ockerbloom will be the Spirit's guest emcee along with the Spirit's own John Leahy for the ceremony, which starts at 6:45 p.m.

The Spirit will retire No. 17 in honor of Radatz. A Dick Radatz bobble-head doll giveaway as well as T-shirts will be available for select fans. The Spirit will air an audio tribute provided by WESX.

The Spirit, who won the North division title in the former Northeast League the last two seasons, will play in the newly-formed Can-Am League this season. The home opener is scheduled for June 2 at the New Fraser Field.
