North Shore Spirit News Release
North Shore will have a new home on the AM dial for 2006 and beyond as 1510 the Zone Sporting New Radio becomes the exclusive broadcast partner for Spirit baseball.
North Shore is the first CanAm League organization to broadcast its games on a major metro radio outlet, and the Spirit office is excited to be setting the standard.
"I am thrilled to be associated with 1510 The Zone," said Spirit owner Nick Lopardo. "We look forward to helping each other in the partnership. Being affiliated with the zone will create further awareness for the ball club and our sponsors. We are excited that our fans will be able to listen to all of the games this season on Sporting News Radio."
1510 The Zone Business Manager Jon Anik was equally enthused about the partnership. "Sporting News Radio's 1510 the Zone is thrilled to be partnering up with the North Shore Spirit. We put a large emphasis on local relationships, and I can't think of a more viable local partnership that 1510 the Zone and the North Shore Spirit. From Nick Lopardo on down, the organization is classy and extremely well-run and we look forward to a long-term relationship as the Spirit's exclusive broadcast partner"
1510 The Zone Boston's Sporting News Radio will carry all 92 regular season dates and any potential playoff contests. North Shore's season kicks of on May 25th from Nashua as the Spirit take on the Pride in its first-ever CanAm league contest. Every pitch will be heard on 1510 The Zone.
While the station has changed, the voice of the Spirit will remain the same. John Leahy will return as the Spirit's play-by-play announcer. Leahy was named Spirit announcer in 2005 and seamlessly transitioned into the challenging role to forge a bond with the Spirit faithful. Leahy will be heard by more fans than ever this season, due to the far-reaching scope of the Zone signal.
1510 the Zone broadcasts from Waltham with a 50,000 watts transmitter. The Zone signal reaches Metro Boston, and spans as far North as New Hampshire, as far west as Worcester and as far South as Connecticut and Rhode Island. Sporting News radio has a play-by-play and sports talk format. It is the only radio station that boasts 24/7 live sports-talk format.
Spirit General Manager Brent Connolly is looking forward to the partnership with The Zone.
"I'm looking forward to the promotional opportunities this affords for both the Spirit advertisers and the Zone. It's a great relationship and we're really thankful that we could make this work."
