The Spirit goal was scored by defenseman Dalton Young, his third goal of the season, with assists to Vince Trocheck and Jimmy Lodge. A few minutes later Brett Foy of the Majors would be called for high sticking and on the ensuing Spirit power play, Michael Fine would net his 16th goal of the season from Saad and Trocheck to give the Spirit their first lead of the hockey game.
