
Spirit Fall to the Spitfires 5-3 in Game Five

The Saginaw Spirit fell to the Windsor Spitfires 5-3 in game five of playoffs at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw. The loss gives the Spitfires a lead of 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. The Spirit faceoff against the Spitfires for game six of the series, Sunday night at the WFCU Centre of Windsor at 7:05 PM.
The Saginaw Spirit opened up the first period with winger Brandon Saad scoring at the :44 mark with help from center Mathew Sisca. Center Vincent Trocheck kept the momentum rolling with a power play goal to put the Spirit up 2-0 at the 9:25 mark, with assists from defensemen Peter Hermenegildo and Ben Chiarot.
Windsor Spitfires winger Jake Carrick began the second with an unassisted goal at the 10:29 mark to put the Spitfires on the scoreboard trailing 2-1. Defenseman Dalton Prout followed up with a power play goal from Saad and Trocheck at the 13:06 mark in the frame. Spitfires Carrick fired back with his second of the night from winger Tom Kuhnhackl at the 13:33 mark in the second. Center Taylor Carnevale tied up the match 3-3 with less than a minute remaining in the second with a goal courtesy winger Jeff Brown and defenseman Ryan Ellis at the 19:15 mark.
Windsor's Ellis put the Spitfires in the lead late in third with a goal at the 16:06 mark from winger Zack Kassian and center Stephan Johnston. Winger Kenny Ryan assured a victory of 5-3 for the Spitfires with an unassisted goal on an empty net at the 19:42 mark in the third period.
Spirit goalie Mavric Parks posted 27 saves on 31 shots, while Spitfires goalie Jack Campbell notched 26 saves on 29 shots.
