
Spikes Ticketpalooza Less Than 24 Hours Away

(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes will host their third annual Spikes TicketPalooza tomorrow at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. TicketPalooza not only marks the first opportunity of the general public to buy 2008 single-game tickets to Spikes games, but will also feature a slew of fun and entertainment for Spikes fans. The festivities will begin at 9 a.m. when the gates will open and tickets will go on sale, but fans are free to begin lining up as early as they wish. TicketPalooza ends at 1:00 p.m., but all tickets will be on sale through the end of the season.
"TicketPalooza is really a kickoff to the baseball season," said Spikes' General Manager Rick Janac. "With this years jam-packed promotional schedule, fans will be in a hurry to get their favorite dates. Tomorrow fans will not only have the opportunity to buy 2008 Spikes tickets, but also get a behind the scenes look at Medlar Field by going on tours, not to mention see some great talent at the National Anthem Tryouts."
The first official TicketPalooza event will begin tonight with the Kids' Club Sleepover at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Kids Club members will begin arriving at 7:30 p.m. to play games, watch a movie and then sleepover in the Spikes' Clubhouse.
On Saturday, ballpark tours of Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will be on-going throughout TicketPalooza, in addition to hitting in the Spikes' batting cages, face painting, arts and crafts, inflatables and carnival games. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in the Spikes' on-field games also. Off The Rack Outfitters will be open and new 2008 Spikes merchandise will be available for purchase.
New to this year's TicketPalooza will be a Guitar Hero Tournament. The tournament will be split into three age brackets and will run from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Medlar Field.
TicketPalooza will also host the 2008 National Anthem Tryouts. Registration for tryouts will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the actual tryouts running from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This year's tryouts boasts a stellar panel of celebrity judges including Penn State President Dr. Graham Spanier, Centre Daily Times Spikes' beat writer Guy Cipriano, WJAC's Lauren Melvin, Penn State Women's Basketball player Julie Trogele and Penn State Men's Basketball player Jeff Brooks.
Saturday also marks the first opportunity holders of season ticket and mini-plan packages will be able to pick up their tickets.
The Spikes open the 2008 season on the road June 17th against the Jamestown Jammers (Florida Marlins) and will return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to finish the series at home June 19th at 7:05 p.m. This is the last opportunity to purchase season tickets, mini-plan packages and flex books before single-game tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. To purchase a ticket plan, call a Spikes Ticketing Associate at 814-272-1711.
