The Sky Sox were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Monday afternoon with a 8-2 loss in the 1st game of the day's double header. Nelson Cruz started the game for the Sox and gave up 8 runs, 3 earned, in 0.2 innings on 4 hits, walking 1 and hitting 1 batter. Kit Pellow hit a 2-run home run in the 5th inning to score the Sox only runs. The Sky Sox won the 2nd game of the day 4-3 to close out their 2003 season. Jason Young started the game for the Sox but pitched just 1 inning giving up 1 run on 0 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1. Matt Perisho came in to relieve Young pitching 5 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 4. Choo Freeman led the Sox offense going 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI. The Sox finish the 2003 season with a 73-70 record and missed making the playoffs by a half game.
