EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox scored six runs late in the game to beat the Tri-City Dust Devils, 10-7, Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium. Jamodrick McGruder and Chris Taylor each scored three runs to contribute to the victory.

McGruder went 3-for-3 and is now hitting .366 in his last 10 games, bumping his average up to .259. Taylor raised his season average back above .300 with his two-hit performance; the fifth-round draft pick has played in all 26 games this season and is tied with Taylor Ard for the league lead in games played.

Jose Valdivia started for the Frogs and was tagged for six runs on six hits and two walks in four innings of work. The 20-year-old out of Nicaragua was pulled after a brutal fourth inning; he loaded the bases by hitting a batter and walking two others to set the table for Rosell Herrera who hit a towering grand slam to give Tri-City a 6-3 lead early in the game.

The AquaSox erased a two-run deficit in the seventh inning with a two-run home run by Taylor and a sacrifice fly by Alfredo Morales to score three runs and go up 7-6, but the Dust Devils responded with one run in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 7-7.

The Frogs picked up where they left off in the seventh and scored another three runs in the eighth to take a comfortable 10-7 lead. Ard provided the three runs with a base-clearing double and now leads the league in RBI with 22.

The comfort of a three-run lead dwindled in the ninth after Sox reliever Oliver Garcia allowed two base runners to bring the possible tying run into the batter's box, but Mario De Jesus relieved Garcia and struck out the final two Dust Devils to close the door and earn his second save of the season.

The AquaSox (19-7) will look for their fourth win in a row Thursday when they take on the Dust Devils (13-13) in the second game of the five-game series. Victor Sanchez (3-0, 2.76 ERA) will be on the bump for the Frogs, opposed by Josh Slaats (0-0, 2.45 ERA) of the Dust Devils.
