
Sox Produce Early in 5-2 Win over Mariners

The Bristol White Sox scored early and often in front of a large crowd on Merchant's Night at Boyce Cox Field. The Sox defeated the Pulaski Mariners 5-2, highlighted by a Jake Cose six-inning, three-hit performance with nine strikeouts.
The Mariners scored first in the top of the first inning on a Jabari Henry RBI groundout. The Sox came to the plate in the bottom of the first and knotted the ballgame at one a piece with a RBI groundout by Courtney Hawkins that plated leadoff man Kale Kiser.
The Sox put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the third, when Kiser scored on a wild pitch and Hawkins scored on a RBI groundout by Eric Grabe. The Sox led 3-1 after three innings of play.
The bottom of the fourth inning saw two more Sox players come across the plate. The first run came across as Corey Farris drew a bases loaded walk and Juan Ramirez later scored on a RBI single by Hawkins. The Sox held a 5-1 margin over the Mariners until the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Mariners plated their second run of the game on a Tyler Marlette solo home run. Marlette led the Mariners with two hits. The Sox were led by Farris who produced two hits, an RBI, and walked twice. Cose picked up his first win on the season for the Sox. Jochi Ogando took the loss for the Mariners after giving up three early runs.
The Sox will travel to take on the Mariners in Pulaski tomorrow with a 7 p.m. start. The Sox will be on a seven game road trip, before heading home July 29 to take on the Elizabethton Twins.
