
Sox open final home stand with win

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Helena Brewers 7-4 at Centene Stadium. Nick Lemon (3-4) picked up the win in relief as he worked an inning and a third, without allowing a hit. The save went to Jay Marshall (5) as he worked a perfect ninth. The loss went to Josh Louis (1-2) as he worked an inning and two-thirds, allowing four runs on four hits.
The Brewers scored first in the ballgame as Jose Jimenez scored on a Rolando Acosta throwing error in the fifth. Great Falls answered back in the bottom half of the inning as Evan Tartaglia had a sacrifice fly scoring Eric Hollis. Later in the inning, Javier Castillo scored on an error to put the Sox up 2-1.
Helena would strike again in the sixth, as they would get a two-run home run by Brad Willcutt. They would increase the lead in the seventh as Jimenez would score on a bases loaded walk to Freddie Parejo to make the score 4-2 Brewers.
In the Sox half of the seventh inning, Acosta came up with two on and one out and hit a three-run homer that bounced off the top of the left field wall and over to put Great Falls up 5-4. The Sox would then increase the lead on a wild pitch and then a double steal as Rodriguez scored from third. They Sox would go up 7-4 and win by the same score.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of this two game set with the Helena Brewers. The starters for the game are: Carlos Perez (LHP) for Great Falls and David Welch (LHP) for Helena. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
