Rockies drop fourth straight

August 31, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release

The Casper Rockies offense couldn't get anything going last night until it was too late. The Rockies were swept in Orem losing 5-4. The Owlz took a 5-0 lead in the 2nd inning, taking advantage of a couple of Rockies miscues.

That score would remain until the 7th when Casper's Bret Berglund tagged a Jose Arredondo pitch over the centerfield wall. Casper would also score two more in the 9th to make the game interesting, even putting the tying run on base.

The game was the second straight close game the two teams played, as the Rockies were defeated in 13 innings the first game of the series.

Orem's win evened the season series with Casper at 8-8 which could come into effect towards the end of the season.

Orem is now tied with Ogden for first in the 2nd half South, putting Casper two back of the lead. The Rockies and Owlz are also now tied for a potential wildcard.

Casper battles Idaho Falls tonight to open a three game set. Aneury Rodriguez starts for the Rockies. 7:15 is the game's first pitch.
