Sox Lose Series to Mustangs

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Billings Mustangs 9-5 at Centene Stadium. Jason Stumm (0-1) took the loss in relief as he worked two innings only allowing one run on two hits. The win went to Kenny Geiersbach (1-0) for the Mustangs as he worked 4 innings out of the bullpen, allowing only one run on four hits.

Billings scored first in tonight's game as two runs came in during the top of the first inning. An RBI hit by Michael DeJesus scored one before an error brought home another runner.

The Sox cut the lead in half in the second as Manny Rodriguez would score from third on a wild pitch. In the fourth the Sox took the lead as they would load the bases with no outs. Matt Sharp had an RBI groundout, Eric Hollis had a sacrifice fly to center, and Brandon Johnson singled home the final run of the inning. In the top of the fifth inning, the Mustangs scored three of their own to tie the game at five. Billings also had the bases loaded with nobody out, and they also brought all three runners home. In the seventh, an RBI single by DeJesus gave Billings the lead back at 6-5. In the eighth inning, Billings sent eight to the plate and scored three more times off Matt Nachreiner. Three straight RBI hits by James Langham, JD Reininger, and Chris Denove made the score 9-5 Mustangs. Tomorrow night the Sox will start a four game road trip with the first of two being played in Helena. The starters for the game are: Clayton Richard (LHP) for Great Falls and Steve Hammond (LHP) for Helena. Game time is at 7:05pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
