Casper Ghosts News Release

The suspended game began with the Rockies hitting in the bottom of the 7th inning and the score knotted at 6. 1st baseman Chris Cook drew a walk from Adam Kalkhof to start the 7th. Eric Young Jr. pinch ran and came around to score on a Jesse Brownell RBI single. Casper also scored in the bottom of the 8th on Radmes Nazario's 1st RBI of the season.

Rockies took the suspended game 8-6, improving to 1-1 on the season. Brett Strickland pitched an inning for the win and Andrew Johnston earned his 1st save as a Rockie as well. The loss was saddled to Adam Kalkhof of Idaho Falls.

The night-cap was game three of the Rockies four-game set against the Chukars at Mike Lansing Field. Idaho Falls got on the board early and often against Casper starter Anuery Rodriguez. Idaho Falls led 5-0 after the 3rd inning and it looked like the Chukars were going to steamroll the young Rockies again.

Hiwever, the comeback kids did just the opposite of rolling over, they got mad. Casper scored 10 runs during the 5th-7th innings, including a five-run 7th when the Rocks brought 10 men to the plate. After the 7th inning Casper was nursing a 10-9 led.

The Chukars then got a pair of runs in the 8th for an 11-10 led heading into the Rockies final at bats. The bottom of the 9th began with Rockies 3rd baseman Chris Cook singling to right. Eric Young Jr. came off the bench to run for Cook at first while outfielder Trevor Allen was at the plate for Casper. Allen then hit a slow roller to Gary Perez at 3rd base, Perez tried to retire Young at 2nd but his throw pulled the 2nd baseman off and Young was safe.

Dexter Fowler then pinch ran for Allen giving the Rockies two speedy runs on base with nobody out. Steven Suarez came to the plate next and laid a perfect sacrifice bunt down that would have moved the runs to 2nd and 3rd, but the Chukars catcher Jeff Howell tried to throw to 3rd but air mailed his throw into the Idaho Falls bullpen scoring Young and Fowler for a thrilling 12-11 Rockies win! Rafael Sanchez earned the win and Jacob Eckley took the loss.
