Sox Have Two All-Stars

July 14, 2014 - American Association (AA)
Amarillo ThunderHeads News Release

The Amarillo Sox had two players selected to represent the South Division All-Stars at the 2014 American Association All-Star Game in Winnipeg July 29. Catcher Jeff Farnham was named a reserve to the team, while starting pitcher Matt Larkins was named one of the pitchers for the South.

Farnham has played 49 games at catcher for the Sox so far this season. He's batting .274 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI in his first year in Amarillo. Farnham joined the Sox after five years in the New York Yankees organization, playing as high as AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2013. He'll back up Wichita's Chris McMurray in the game.

Larkins has a team-high 5 wins and a 3.68 ERA in 7 starts. He's also made 11 appearances out of the bullpen before being moved to the starting rotation in June. Larkins leads the Sox in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts. He's playing in his second season in Amarillo.
