
Sox fall, unable to win series

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Orem Owlz 6-4 at Centene Stadium. Yunior Novoa (1-5) took the loss for the Sox as he worked six innings, allowing six runs on nine hits. The win went to Daniel Hawkins (4-2) as he worked five innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Great Falls put up the first run of the game on a Manny Rodriguez ground out scoring Daron Roberts. Orem then tied the game up in the top of the second on a Stantrel Smith single to plate Martin Maldanado.
In the Owlz third, Billy Boyer led off with a homer to left. Later in the inning, Josh Cowles hit a three-run homerun to left to put Orem up 5-1. They would make it 6-1 when Hainley Statia hit one out, also to left field. Novoa allowed three homeruns in the game, the most of any Great Falls pitcher this year.
The Sox would start to comeback in the sixth. Roberts hit his sixth triple of the year to score Evan Tartaglia. Rodriguez would then hit a two-run shot to left to make it a 6-4 game.
It stayed 6-4 until the ninth inning. The Sox had two on and one out. Pinch hitter Francisco Hernandez would fly out to the warning track in right field for the second out. The third out came when Tartaglia hit one to right and again Anderson Rosario made another running catch to end the ballgame. They Sox would fall 6-4.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the first game of a three game series with the Ogden Raptors. The starters for the game are: Carlos Perez (LHP) for Great Falls and Mario Alvarez (RHP) for Ogden. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
