Sox end trip with a win

Sox Defeat Ogden 8-3

Ogden, UT ‚¬" Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Ogden Raptors 8-3 at Linquist Field in Ogden. Carlos Perez (2-5) picked up the win as he worked five innings, allowing three runs on two hits. The loss went to Matt Gomez (0-2) as he worked one and a third innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits.

Daron Roberts gave Great Falls an early lead with a first inning homerun. The Sox would go up 1-0.

Ogden would then tie the game in the second inning on an RBI groundout by BJ Richmond. Great Falls would get that run back in the third on a homerun by Evan Tartaglia to put the Sox up 2-1.

The Sox added to their lead in the fourth when Brandon Allen hit an RBI single scoring Manny Rodriguez from third base.

Ogden would try to fight back in the fifth inning. With two on and no one out, the Raptors were able to tie the game again. A sacrifice fly by Adam Godwin followed by an RBI double by Russ Mitchell made it a 3-3 game.

The Sox would than capitalize on an Ogden misfortune in the sixth. Rolando Acosta scored on a throwing error by catcher Kengshill Pujols to put the Sox back on top. Two more runs scored in the seventh. First, Roberts had an RBI double. Later in the inning Roberts would come home on a suicide squeeze play to put the Sox up 6-3.

Great Falls added two runs in the eighth as Hernandez scored on a passed ball and Allen scored on an error. The Sox would go on to an 8-3 win and split the series with Ogden.

In the game Francisco Hernandez extended his hit streak to 14 games. Evan Tartaglia finished the night 3 for 4 with a homer and two doubles, and Daron Roberts was 3 for 5 with a homer, double, and single with two RBI and two runs scored.

Tomorrow night the Sox will have their final off day of the season. They will be back in action on Thursday when they start a seven game home stand with the first of a three game series with the Orem Owlz. The starters for the game are: Paul Moviel (RHP) for Great Falls and TBA for Orem. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
