Sox Drop Series Opener to Chukars

Idaho Falls, ID - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Idaho Falls Chukars 8-5 at McDermott Field in Idaho Falls. Carlos Torres (1-1) took the loss for the Sox as he worked five innings, allowing five runs on six hits. The win went to Cody Harkcom (1-2) as he also worked five innings allowing only two runs on six hits. The save went to Jacob Eckley (1) as he worked an inning and two-thirds of hitless ball.

Great Falls started off the scoring in the third inning. Matt Tribble singled home Brandon Johnson to put the Sox up 1-0. The lead would only last for three batters. In the bottom of the third inning, Idaho Falls sent nine men to bat and scored five times on five hits. The Chukars had a two RBI double by Ethien Santana before back-to-back run scoring triples by Chris McConnell and Gary Perez. An RBI groundout by Jase Turner capped off the inning.

The Sox were able to get a homerun by Manny Rodriguez in the fourth before Idaho Falls answered back in the seventh inning. Kiel Thibault doubled home Byron Barber to put the Chukars up by four again. In the Sox half of the eighth inning they began to cut down the Chukars lead. Great Falls scored three times to make the score 6-5. However, before the Sox could manage a ninth inning rally, Idaho Falls scored two more times in the eighth to extend the lead to 8-5. The Chukars went on to win by the same score. In the game, Matt Tribble increased his hit streak to nine games. Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of three with the Idaho Falls Chukars. The starters for the game are: Paul Moviel (RHP) for Great Falls and Brandon Brantley (RHP) for Idaho Falls. Game time is at 7:15pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 7:00. News and Notes: The Grand Opening of the new "Great Falls Hall of Fame" will be on July 22nd, when the Sox host the Idaho Falls Chukars. The opening is set for 5pm.
