Sox Comeback Falls Short

It was a pitcher's duel at Boyce Cox field as the Bristol White Sox hosted the Elizabethton Twins and both teams remained scoreless until the seventh inning. The Twins broke the streak in the seventh as they went on to defeat the Sox 3-1.

The Twins scored two runs in the top of the seventh on an error by the Sox infield to take a 2-0 lead. Niko Goodrum scored on a RBI single by Josh Hendricks in the top of the eighth to lead the Sox 3-0.

The Sox started to rally in the bottom of the ninth as the Sox scored a run on a RBI single by Nick Basto. Trailing 3-1 and with one out in the inning the final two Sox batters struck out.

Hein Robb threw five innings of one-hit ball while striking out five batters for the Twins and Todd Kibby pitched six innings of shutout ball with six strikeouts, both settled for no-decisions. Josh Burris improved to 6-0 on the season for the Twins and Jose Brito took the loss for the Sox.

Adam Walker and Goodrum each went 3-5 with a run scored for the Twins. Keon Barnum and Nick Basto each collected a hit for the Sox. Basto knocked in the only run for the Sox.

The 13-33 Sox will travel to the 28-25 Greeneville Astros Tuesday August 14 with first pitch set for a 7 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
