Sox Defeated by Missoula 3-2
Great Falls, MT Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Missoula Osprey 3-2 at Centene Stadium. Clayton Richard (1-1) took the loss for the Sox as he worked six innings, allowing only one run on four hits. The win went to Greg Smith (4-3) as he worked six and two-thirds, allowing two runs on seven hits. The save went to Eddie Baeza (3) as he worked a perfect ninth.
The Sox and Osprey battled to a pitchers duel through the first five innings of the ballgame. Missoula would crack the scoreboard first in the sixth off starter Clayton Richard. Richard walked the lead off man Pedro Ciriaco who was then doubled home by Rust Ryal. The Osprey would add two more in the seventh off reliever Luis Pena on a sacrifice fly by Ciriaco and then an error by Brandon Johnson allowed Jayson Santiago to score.
Great Falls would chip away at the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Daron Roberts hada one out triple to bring home Matt Tribble. Then JJ Schmidt brought home Roberts with a two out single to left.
The Sox were unable to manage a second straight ninth inning comeback as Baeza shut the door and set the ninth inning down in order. The Sox would fall 3-2.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the final game of the three game series with the Missoula Osprey. The starters for the game are: Noe Rodriguez (LHP) for Great Falls and Matt Green (RHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
