Sox Break Losing Streak; Sox Defeat Billings 5-3

Billings, MT- Tonight the Great Falls White Sox took the series finally 5-3 over the Billings Mustangs at Cobb Field in Billings. Ray Liotta (2-1) picked up the victory for the Sox, as he allowed no runs on four hits. John Hurd picked up his second save of the season. The loss went to TJ Johnson (3-1) for the Mustangs.

The Great Falls White Sox opened up the scoring for the 11th straight night, as Scott Martin scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second inning. Great Falls would score again in the third inning. Matt Deuchler's two run double scored both Derrick McNeil and Adam Ricks giving the Sox a 3-0 lead.

Ray Liotta left the game at the end of the fifth inning with a 3-0 lead. Gerron McGary was able to get out of the sixth inning when Billings had two on and no out to preserve the three run lead. Great Falls then scored two more runs in their half of the ninth inning on a two run homer run by Ferny Alvarez. Billings would score twice in the ninth on a two run homer by Craig Tatum. Later in the inning another run scored on a ground out. Billings had the winning run at the plate, but John Hurd was able to strike out Paul Janish to end the game. The Sox went on to win 5-3 over the Mustangs.

On Thursday night the Sox will start a two game series against the Missoula Osprey at Play Ball Park in Missoula. The starters for Thursday night's game night are: Garry Bakker (RHP) for Great Falls and Tim Vailencourt (RHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 7:00m and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
