BIRMINGHAM, AL - All eight All-Stars from the Biloxi Shuckers logged playing time in the South Division's 9-5 win over the North Division in the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game in front of a sellout crowd of 8,500 fans at Regions Field. LHP Quentin Torres-Costa (W, 1-0) picked up the win for the South in relief.

Corey Ray, Troy Stokes Jr. and Jake Hager were all in the starting lineup for the South Division. Ray and Hager each played the entire game, while Stokes Jr. played through the sixth inning. Ray finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. His double in the top of the eighth inning helped spark a three-run inning that at the time put the South Division up 5-2. He singled and scored a run as well in the top of the ninth, another rally that ultimately put the South Division in front for good. Hager went 1-for-5 with an RBI single, driving in a run in the top of the ninth as part of a four-run inning. Stokes went 0-for-2 but recorded four putouts in the field.

On the mound, RHP Thomas Jankins pitched a scoreless fourth inning, allowing just a single. Reigning Southern League Pitcher of the Week RHP Zack Brown faced one batter after tossing a complete game on Friday, allowing a single. Reliever RHP Jon Olczak faced four batters, allowing two hits before getting a fly out and a groundout. After pitching in the eighth, Torres-Costa allowed three runs in one inning of work, allowing two hits and issuing a pair of walks while striking out one. After Chattanooga RHP Todd Van Steensel (L, 0-1) allowed four runs in the top of the ninth, RHP Nate Griep hurled a perfect inning in the bottom of the ninth, locking down the victory for the South.

Mobile BayBears outfielder Zach Gibbons earned the MVP award after going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBI and three runs scored. His single in the top of the seventh inning was the first hit the South Division All-Stars recorded in the game.
