After a scoreless first three frames to begin the evening, including a scoreless, one-hit performance by South division and Amarillo starter Emmanuel Ramirez, the South got the night started in the top of the fourth.
Corpus Christi's Abraham Toro led the inning off with a walk while Midland's Mikey White added a one-out single. After a groundout by Amarillo utility first baseman Kyle Overstreet to push runners up a base, a wild pitch with Sod Poodles outfielder Edward Olivares at the plate made it a 1-0 South division lead.
In the fifth, Midland's Luis Barrera and Sod Poodles infielder Ivan Castillo started the top half with consecutive singles. Owen Miller then knocked a deep fly ball to centerfield that was able to advance the runners and a throwing error plated Barrera from third to make it a 2-0 contest.
The South division made it a 4-0 advantage in the seventh after Midland's Collin Theroux launches a two-run home run to centerfield.
The North crossed their first run in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 4-1 score courtesy of Arkansas' Evan White's ground-rule double to plate Donnie Walton of the Travelers, who walked.
The South capped off the night with a final fifth run in the ninth.
The Sod Poodles begin their next homestand and first of the second half on Thursday when they welcome the Houston Astros' Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks, to Amarillo for four games. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
