South Carolina's Jakaitis Named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Jakaitis of the South Carolina Stingrays is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Oct. 18-20.
It is the fifth time in Jakaitis' ECHL career that he has received the weekly honor, which is tied for the second-most in League history.
The 30-year-old went 1-0-1 with a 1.93 goals-against average and a save percentage of .930 in two appearances last week.
Jakaitis made 26 saves in a season-opening 3-2 shootout loss at Reading on Saturday and then stopped 27 shots in a 3-2 win against the Royals on Sunday.
A native of Rochester, Minn., Jakaitis has appeared in 128 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia posting an overall record of 61-41-20 with 13 shutouts, a 2.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .921. Jakaitis was the 2012 ECHL Goaltender of the Year while with Gwinnett, and tied the ECHL record with three consecutive shutouts from Dec. 17-28, 2011.
Jakaitis has also posted a 5-3-1 record in 10 career American Hockey League games with Portland and Worcester.
