
South Bay's Total Team Effort Prevails in Lone Star State

FRISCO, TX - The South Bay Lakers picked up their largest win of the season as they beat the Texas Legends, 140-98, on Wednesday night. The 42-point margin of victory was the largest win in the all-time series between these two teams. Talen Horton-Tucker scored a game-high 27 points for South Bay (14-21), while Devontae Cacok and David Stockton each tallied double-doubles in the win. Antonius Cleveland led the Legends (19-17) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a tightly contested first quarter, but South Bay was able to take a slight 32-30 lead as Cacok and Pierre Jackson each scored eight points in the opening frame. Jackson continued to pour it on in the second quarter, scoring 10 more points, to lead the Lakers to a 66-51 halftime lead.
South Bay dominated the third quarter, outscoring their opponent by 20 points, to take a 103-68 lead into the fourth frame. Horton-Tucker provided the offense for South Bay in the third, with 10 points in the period. The Lakers put the finishing touches on the win behind a combined 30 points from the second unit in the fourth quarter.
Cleveland and Cameron Payne (10 points, 11 assists) each recorded double-doubles for Texas and Jaylen Hoard led the second unit with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Josh Reaves scored 12 points with four steals and Dakota Mathias also reached double figures with 10 points.
Horton-Tucker guided South Bay to their third straight victory with 27 points, five rebounds and a steal. Cacok picked up his 19th double-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in 23 minutes off the bench, while Stockton tallied his third double-double of the season with 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Jackson ended the night with 24 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Wayne Selden Jr. finished with 15 points, Javan Felix tallied 11 points, five rebounds and six assists and Reggie Hearn also scored in double figures with 10 points.
South Bay returns to the floor tomorrow night when they face the Austin Spurs at 5:30pm from the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, TX.
