Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Drive (21-15) fell to the Wisconsin Herd (28-8) by a final of 107-103 on Wednesday night. With the road win, Wisconsin extended their winning streak to a league-best five games and moved to 16-2 on the road. Bucks two-way player Frank Mason III was on fire all night for the league's top team, finishing with 44 points on 13-23 shooting and 8-8 from the charity stripe.
The Drive jumped out to a quick 6-point lead after the first quarter behind Tre'Shawn Thurman's 10 bench points, but Wisconsin had a strong second quarter and knotted it up at 52 going into the locker rooms at the midway break. Mason and the Herd continued to apply the pressure into the third quarter and were up by as many as 11 before Grand Rapids got it back within just 4 heading into the fourth. The Drive capitalized on a quick 6-0 run to start the fourth and led 87-85 just minutes into the final frame but a steady dose of Mason allowed the Herd to ink out a 4-point road win.
Other Herd players in double figures were D.J. Hogg (14 points, 9 rebounds & 3 blocks), Cameron Reynolds (12 points & 7 rebounds) and Trevor Lacey (11 points & 6 rebounds).
Big man Donta Hall snagged yet another double-double on the season, finishing with a team-high 22 points on 10-16 shooting to go with 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Khalil Iverson came off the bench and put up an impressive 17 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor, including a clutch 3-3 from deep, to go with 2 steals and 2 blocks. Tre'Shawn Thurman, also off the bench, went for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Craig Sword finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Both Pistons two-way players struggled to find their rhythm throughout the night, as Louis King went 4-13 from the field for 11 points and Jordan Bone, who was with Detroit earlier in the day, went 4-16 for 10 points.
The Drive will remain in Grand Rapids to get ready to host the Northern Arizona Suns on Friday night at 7pm. The Herd will return home to Wisconsin to get ready to host the Drive again on Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm EST.
