Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - After advancing past NYCFC in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Semifinals, Sounders FC now faces Liga MX side Pumas UNAM tonight in the first leg of the Final at Estadio Olímpico Universitario (7:30 p.m. PT / FS1, TUDN, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The series concludes next Wednesday, May 4 with the second leg at Lumen Field (7:00 pm. PT / FS1, TUDN, 93.3 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
The Rave Green are looking to make history, as no MLS team has ever won a Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League title. This marks the seventh appearance for Seattle in the competition, which crowns the best team from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. This year marks the Rave Green's best run in the tournament, advancing to at least the Quarterfinals in four of its previous six appearances. Seattle is the fifth MLS team to advance to the Final.
Neither Seattle or Pumas has lifted a SCCL trophy, guaranteeing a new champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the second leg in Seattle. Tickets for next Wednesday's match are still available at SoundersFC.com/Tickets. The club previously announced that lower bowl inventory has officially sold out, with remaining tickets available on both sides of the upper bowl.
Sports Radio 950 KJR is airing tonight's match, with Keith Costigan and Kasey Keller on the call onsite at Estadio Olímpico Universitario. Jackson Felts, Pete Fewing and Danny Jackson are providing pre-match, halftime and post-match coverage live from the Alliance Council watch party at Rhein Haus in Seattle beginning at 6:30 p.m. PT, with a special one-hour pre-match show leading up to kickoff.
Following tonight's contest, Sounders FC returns home to Lumen Field for the second leg of the Final on Wednesday, May 4 (7:00 pm. PT / FS1, TUDN, 93.3 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
