Sound Tigers Headed For Game Seven At Home Sunday

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, lost 5-0 on the road to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Friday forcing a seventh-and-deciding game in their East Division Semifinal. Game seven will be at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this Sunday at 4:05 p.m.

The Penguins took a 2-0 lead in the first period with both goals coming on one-timers. Toby Peterson won a battle for the puck in the Sound Tigers' zone and fed Matt Hussey in front for Hussey's first goal of the playoffs at 13:19. The Penguins made it 2-0 when Konstantin Koltsov converted Marquis Mathieu's floating, cross-ice pass at 17:11 for his first of the postseason. Wilkes-Barre Captain Tom Kostopoulos also assisted on the goal.

The Penguins padded their lead in the second when Shane Endicott deflected a Kostopoulos shot past Bridgeport Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz for his first playoff goal making it 3-0. Kostopoulos and Koltsov had the assists.

Hussey tallied his second goal of the game at 10:24 of the third period, unassisted, and Kris Beech provided an insurance goal at 15:32 of the final frame, his third marker of the postseason, off assists from Matt Murley and Michel Ouellet.

Penguins Goaltender Andy Chiodo recorded the first playoff shutout of his professional career to earn his second win in as many nights with 23 saves. Chiodo was the first star of the game, Hussey was second, and Koltsov was third. Dubielewicz made 21 saves as the Penguins had a 26-23 shots on goal advantage. The Sound Tigers were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Penguins were 0-for-4.
