Sound Tigers and Penguins Going To Game Seven

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, lost 3-2 in overtime at home Friday to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who evened the best-of-seven East Division semifinal between the teams at three games apiece with the victory. The seventh-and-deciding game in the series will be played at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tomorrow, Saturday, April 29th, at 7:05 p.m. The game will be web-cast live at www.sountigers.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. Fans can also watch the game live on the Internet via the B2 Networks pay per view.
Eleven of the 13 all-time playoff games involving the teams have been one-goal contests with eight, including three of the last four this spring, decided in overtime.
After zipping through a scoreless first period, it looked as if the teams would do so in the middle frame, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman Noah Welch blasted home a slap-shot for his first postseason goal off assists from Jonathan Filewich and Ryan Stone with 1:10 left on the clock for a 1-0 lead.
The Sound Tigers evened the game at 1-1 when Masi Marjamaki tallied his third playoff marker, his second in as many games, off feeds from David Masse and Steve Regier just 3:47 into the third period.
The Penguins regained the lead at 10:04 when Jonathan Filewich chipped home a rebound for his fourth goal of the postseason with Maxime Talbot earning the lone assist. However, the Sound Tigers roared right back just 1:13 later when Matt Koalska scored his second goal of the playoffs, and in as many games, off assists from Ryan Caldwell and Rob Collins to knot the score at 2-2.
The Sound Tigers had a chance to win the game, and the series, early in the extra session when referee Francois St. Laurent whistled Welch for tripping at the 1:48 mark, but they could not take advantage of the opportunity. St. Laurent then sent Sound Tiger Jeremy Colliton to the bin for interference at 12:56, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton converted the chance as Stone blasted home a slap-shot for his second postseason tally off assists from Ryan Whitney and Filewich at the 13:39 mark.
Stone was the first star of the game, Marjamaki the second and Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz the third with a franchise, playoff, single-game record 45 saves. Marc-Andre Fleury made 33 saves for the Penguins who had a 48-35 shots on goal advantage and were 1 for 5 on the power play and 6 for 6 on the penalty kill.
The winner of Saturday's game will face the Hershey Bears in the East Division finals.

The last ferry will also wait until 15 minutes after the end of the game or 10:30 p.m., whichever comes first, to depart following weekend playoff games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
